A problem with one of the hard disks of the hosted web server meant 
that hosted websites were unavailable between 1am and 4am last night. I 
then spent three hours sorting the problems and restoring on to a new 
partition before re-enabling service at 7 am.

The main problems were caused by faults on the swap partition that 
eventually caused the system to hang.
